Uniform contemporary half calf bindings, raised bands, title labels in orange and black, spines tooled in gilt, marbled boards, red edges. Somewhat worn bindings; minor spotting here and there in both volumes. Volume I with a few ink stains, an ink annotation in one margin, and a few browned pages; the final pages with some additional spotting. Volume II with a few somewhat soiled pages and a couple of rust spots.

Pritzel 3727. - "This pair of volumes is one of the eighteenth century's best bibliographical exhibits. Though it lacks such formal and precise treatment of titles and imprints as we are accustomed today, the Bibliotheca Botanica is tremendously impressive in its erudition, its analysis of the contents of important volumes, its biographical notes, its useful though imperfect index, its attractive Zurich typography" (Hunt 622).
