(as published, some foxing or slight offsetting from plates to text).
Contemporary somewhat worn dark green half calf, sparsely gilt spine, faded red edges. 3 volumes.
Soulsby 804; Nissen, BBI:566. First edition. Soulsby says 240 coloured plates, Nissen 237.
Provenance: Birger Strandell (1901-1993), Swedish physician and famous Linnaeus collector; inherited within the family. Strandell was one of the foremost Linnaeus collectors and chairman of the Swedish Linnaeus Society for many years. He was a descendant of Linnaeus and his collection, which was founded by Emil Lindell, is one of the largest collections regarding Linnaeus ever to be in private hands. It now belongs to the Hunt Botanical Library i Pittsburgh, USA.
