Hand-coloured engraved world map with two hemispheres surrounded by allegorical scenes of the continents (Europe, Asia, Africa, and America), native inhabitants and wild animals together with two inset circular diagrams depicting the theories of Ptolemy and Copernicus regarding the solar system. Dutch text on verso. C. 308 x 475 mm. Some browning and spotting, some minor tears to margin, outer lower and upper margin reinforced (lower with small part missing), centrefold as issued.

This is the first state prior to the addition of the Privilege below the title. Scarce double hemisphere world map from a Elzevier Dutch bible printed in 1663. The map shows California as a peninsula, western Australia, Van Dieman's Land and a small part of New Zealand are marked.
