Text in two columns, in German and French.
Simple 18th century half calf binding with Turkish paper, redspeckled edges. Bookplate of Carl Arvid Claesson Rålamb (1722-1759) (the bookplate by Olof Jacobsson Årre, 1731-1809). Also with the autograph of Rålamb on German title.

Based on "A New Method and Extraordinary Invention, to Dress Horses" (1667), an edited version of "General System of Horsemanship" (1658), the first book on formal horsemanship produced in Britain, also by Cavendish this massive work redefined the style and methods of the aristocratic horseman. Richly illustrated with plates showing training of horses.
Carl Arvid Claesson Rålamb, born 1722. Volunteer in the Northern Scanian Cavalry Regiment 1731. Quartermaster in the Northern Scanian Cavalry Regiment 1741. Cornet 1743. Captain in the Royal Suédois Regiment in France 1745 and in the Royal Pologne Regiment 1747. Lieutenant in the aforementioned Swedish Cavalry Regiment 1749. Died unmarried 1759 in Göttingen.
