Crozat was a French aristocrat, army officer, art collector, and printmaker. His uncle, Pierre Crozat, assembled one of the most important art collections in France, which passed on to Louis Antoine Crozat, and after his death was dispersed by his three daughters, with much of the collection now in the Hermitage Museum, Saint Petersburg.
