Five etchings, circa 1645-1650. Including: "The Ox-Cart: View between Ancona and Sinigaglia"; "The Large Tree"; "The Ponte Molle"; "River Crossing"; and "Fishermen fishing in the river Tiber near Mount Soracte". Each signed in the plate.
Two I. approximately 26.5 x 20.5 cm, S. approximately 27.0 x 21.0 cm; three I. approximately 20.5 x 27.5 cm, S. approximately 20.7 x 27.7 cm.

According to the Art Institute of Chicago, which has impressions of these etchings, "The sons of a glass painter, Jan and Andries Both studied for a time with the Utrecht painter Abraham Bloemaert, and went to Rome after 1635. Whereas Andries specialized in peasant and lowlife scenes, Jan favored Italianate landscapes in the tradition of Claude Gellée, called Le Lorrain. When his brother drowned in a Venetian canal in 1641, Jan returned to Utrecht."

The collection of Engineer and Major Frank Bensow (1883-1969), each with the ink stamp verso (Lugt 982c); two are also the collection of Dr. C. Axel Widstrand (Sweden 1866-1956), both with the ink stamp verso (Lugt 2630a).
