Hollstein 71. The first state, of two, with the name of the publisher Wyngaerde.
A superb, early impression, with strong contrasts and crisp plate marks.
This engraving is based on an oil painting that Rubens made for a religious order in Ghent, 1619-1620. The painting was seized by French occupation troops in 1794 and taken to Paris, before being sent to the newly established Palais des Beaux-Arts de Lille, where it is now in the collection.
