Of circular form, decorated in shades of underglaze blue, painted to the centre with a watery landscape scene with clouds swirling around pagodas, two figures in a terraced garden looking towards a small boat, birds flying overhead, the wide rims moulded and with the highly unusual design of butterflies alternating with different blossoms including peony, hibiscus and chrysanthemum, the backs glazed. Period: Qianlong, early in the period (1736-1795). Diameter c. 23 cm.
